National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. Today, NSS has more than 3.2 million student volunteers on its roll spread over 298 Universities and 42 (+2) Senior Secondary Councils and Directorate of Vocational Education all over the country. From its inception, more than 3.75 crores students from Universities, Colleges and Institutions of higher learning have benefited from the NSS activities, as student volunteers

The values that are social and moral keep a man or a nation in the forefront of development. To inculcate the moral and social values among students, MIC has a committed team of NSS volunteers. MIC NSS is headed by Mr. G. Rajesh, Associate Professor from the department of Mechanical Engineering who received university level “Best NSS Programme Officer” award in 2012 on the occasion of 4th university formation day.
MIC NSS activities include yearly regular activities such as “Blood Donation, Distribution of Notebooks to poor children, extending a helping hand to old people and orphan children”, and special events like “Joy of Giving Week, Concert for a Cause, and Youth Festival”. MIC NSS unit also adopted a village, Perakalapadu and working towards its development through several special medical camps, reconstruction of roads, drainages and awareness programmes to villagers and developing MPUP School in the village, besides offering succor to the needy during natural and man-made calamities.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO'S):
To provide graduates with a good foundation in mathematics, sciences and engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems that will facilitate them to find employment in industry.
To develop an ability to analyze the requirements of the software, understand the technical specifications, design and provide novel engineering solutions and efficient product designs.
To inculcate the skills necessary to continue their education after graduation, as well as for the societal needs.
To promote student awareness on the life-long learning and to introduce them to professional ethics and codes of professional practice.
To inculcate students professional and ethical attitude, communication skills, team work skills, multi-disciplinary approach and an ability to relate computer engineering issues with social awareness
