Anti- Ragging Committee Objectives

Anti ragging Committee will be the supervisory and advisory committee in preserving a culture of ragging free environment in the college campus. The main objectives of this cell are as follows.

  • To aware the student of de humanising effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.
  • To keep a continuous watches a vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
  • To deal promptly & stringently with incident of ragging brought to our notice.

To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that know act ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go un notices and unpunished.

Anti- Ragging Committee Functions

1. Ensures that at least one faculty member will be present at any particular time at all the locations to avoid ragging activities.

2. Takes precautions to avoid ragging activities at other locations like canteen areas and gives instructions to the student volunteers.

3. Canvases about anti-ragging in the forms of Flexes, Posters and Boards in college premises and surrounding areas where there is a chance of ragging.

4. Arranges counseling and guidance programs for the fresher’s and parents regarding ragging.

5. Takes affidavits from the students and parents regarding Ragging during the Admission.

6. Provides helpline details inside and outside college premises.

7. Resolves the complaint received from the victim, verifies the facts through enquiry and takes immediate disciplinary action against culprit.

Anti- Ragging Committee Roles & Resposibilities

  • To secure almost all areas in the college (i.e. canteen, parking places, different blocks, play grounds etc.) and ensure that at least one faculty member is present at a particular time at all locations to avoid ragging.
  • To take precautions to avoid ragging activities at other locations like bus stops and give instructions to appoint student volunteers & secret informers at various boarding points.
  • To conduct anti-ragging campaigns in the form of Flexes, Posters and Boards in college premises and surrounding areas where there is a chance of ragging.
  • To associate with Grievances & Redressal committee and help in anti-ragging activities.
  • To conduct awareness programs on Anti – Ragging in the form of meetings and PPTs to the senior students, faculty & non-college personnel.
  • To conduct meeting whenever required and discuss relevant issues, in consultation with the Director seeking his approval.
  • The students may feel free to put up a grievance in writing/or Email to the respective committee Incharge.
  • The Grievance Cell will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents.
  • The Grievance Cell will assure that the grievance has been properly solved in a stipulated time limit provided by the cell.

Anti- Ragging Committee Action

  • The Institution shall punish the student found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed herein under:
  • The Anti-Ragging Committee of the Institution shall take an appropriate decision, in regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Committee.
  • The Anti-Ragging Committee depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt will follow up the punishment based on the committee’s decision.
  • Further the Institution can refer to the Affiliating University to act according to the UGC Regulations and State Act on curbing the menace of ragging.
  • As per the Supreme Court judgment on ragging in the Colleges, the following actions will be taken on those students who indulge in ragging Withholding of scholarships, fellowships & results.
  • Debarring from representation in events and appearing for tests/examinations and also consequent admission to any other institution.
  • Withdrawing benefits like travel concessions and campus selections.
  • Suspension or expulsion from hostel or mess and also attending classes.
  • Cancellation of admission or rustication from the Institution.
  • Registration of FIR against the accused and Prosecution under the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
